Gia đình họ Gung có bốn người con và họ đều được đặt tên theo những loài đá quý bao gồm: chị cả Bi Chwi (Ngọc Bích), con trai lớn San Ho (một loại đá San hô), con gái Ryu Bi (đá Ruby) và con trai út Ho Bak (Hổ Phách). Cũng giống như các loại ngọc quý tuy đều rất đẹp nhưng màu sắc có thể không hòa hợp khi đứng cạnh nhau, các thành viên gia đình Gung cũng vậy - mỗi người có tính cách và lý tưởng khác nhau.
Gia đình đá quý" được thực hiện dưới sự chỉ đạo của đạo diễn Baek Ho Min và do Im Sung Han viết kịch bản. Phim có sự góp mặt của các diễn viên Go Na Eun, So Yi Hyun,Lee Hyun Jin, Lee Il Min, Han Jin Hee, Han Hye Sook, Kim Young Ok... Khi phát sóng ở Hàn Quốc, tập đầu của "Gia đình đá quý" chỉ đạt rating hơn 7%. Tuy nhiên sau đó, với diễn biến hấp dẫn, phim ngày càng cuốn hút khán giả và rating cũng nhờ đó tăng lên đáng kể - thường giữ mức trên 20%.
Nội dung phim: Bốn chị em nhà họ Gung đều được đặt tên là những viên ngọc quý: con gái đầu tên là Bi Chwi (Ngọc Bích), con trai lớn tên là San Ho (một loại đá san hô), con gái kế tiếp tên là Ryu Bi (Ruby) và con trai út tên là Ho Bak (Hổ Phách).
Các loại đá quý tuy màu sắc rất đẹp nhưng không phải tất cả đều hợp nhau khi đứng cạnh nhau. Bộ phim nói về một gia đình với những thành viên có cá tính khác nhau và họ làm thế nào để có thể tìm được sự hài hòa từ những xung đột ấy.
Lấy bối cảnh một gia đình trung lưu tại Hàn Quốc, bộ phim kể về những khó khăn, khát vọng thành đạt và sự cố gắng của thế hệ trẻ Hàn Quốc trong xã hội. Những cuộc gặp gỡ tình cờ làm thay đổi cuộc đời của 4 chị em.
